The Shirak Cup open tournament, one of the largest events on the federation's regional calendar, was held in Gyumri for the tenth time. More than 180 athletes from Yerevan, Vanadzor, Abovyan, Artashat and Gyumri took part.
The tournament was held over two days: kata on the first day, kumite on the second. Spectator interest was higher than usual — the stands were full on both days.

- Youngest medalist: Sona Babayan (Gyumri), 12 years old
Ten years ago, 40 children took part in this tournament. Today, 180. That is the figure that shows karate is alive in the regions.
For next year's tournament, the federation plans to invite Georgian clubs as well.
