The European Junior Championship, which featured athletes from more than 40 countries, has concluded in Tirana, the capital of Albania. Armenia was represented by six athletes.
The best result of the championship was posted by Mariam Hovhannisyan, who defeated representatives of Bulgaria, North Macedonia and Cyprus in the individual kata event. In the quarterfinal she lost to an athlete from Italy, who ultimately became the championship's silver medalist.
The furthest yet
This is the best result by Armenian female athletes in the kata discipline at European Junior Championships in the past ten years.
Mariam worked for two full years for this very event. At the European level, the quarterfinal is the threshold beyond which the fight for medals begins. Next season we will try to cross it.
After the championship, the national team will take a recovery week, after which preparations for the national championship will begin.
